The fact that Portugal is almost considered a festival mecca, from north to south, from the capital Lisbon to the most remote corners of the mainland, as well as its islands, Azores and Madeira, means there are music festivals for all kinds of music lovers and for those who enjoy a good time.

Portugal has fully embraced the global music festival movement, with an increasing number of festivals sprouting up all over the country. Such events boast impressive line-ups and are organized in breathtaking locations that were previously unheard of. The rise of music tourism has put Portugal on the map, attracting many national and international visitors, while it has gained widespread recognition for its diverse musical programs, its plethora of stages, and the selection of unique and unconventional venues. Currently, Portugal hosts countless music festivals, organized by private promoters, associations, and local authorities. Music has become a powerful magnet, attracting crowds of young people to urban, suburban, and rural areas, revitalizing these places, and stimulating local economies.

In this article, we're going to talk about a summer festival that has already become a well-known fixture, as well as one of the most popular music festivals in the country: MEO Marés Vivas, in Vila Nova de Gaia.

This festival, which takes place from July 19th to 21st at its venue Recinto MEO MARÉS VIVAS, located between the famous Madalena Beach and Canide Sul Beach, will host several national and international artists. Let's take a closer look at the lineup of artists set to perform throughout the three-day event. On the first day, we have Syro, a multi-talented Portuguese artist known for his prowess as a singer, songwriter, and drummer. He gained widespread recognition with his 2020 hit single "Perto de Mim," and its music video that has garnered millions of views on YouTube. Next up is D.A.M.A, a prominent Portuguese pop group that officially formed in 2008 and gained significant popularity in mid-2013. They are widely regarded as one of the most successful Portuguese pop music acts of the 2010s. We then have D'ZRT, a band that rose to national fame through their involvement in the popular TV show "Morangos com Açúcar." To finish this lineup is the renowned English pop band Take That, which currently consists of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald. The original lineup also featured Jason Orange, who departed from the band in 2014, and the famous Robbie Williams.

On the 20th, the lineup includes an exciting array of talented artists, starting with Marisa Liz, also known as Marisa Pinto, a renowned Portuguese singer with a celebrated career both as the lead vocalist of Amor Electro and through her successful solo endeavors. Following her are the soulful melodies of Rag'n'Bone Man, a British singer-songwriter best known for his hit "Human." Next on the list is the versatile James Arthur, a singer and songwriter noted for his diverse contributions to pop, R&B, and soul music, and as the winner of The X Factor (UK) 2012. Finally, the lineup features the iconic presence of Ben Harper, an artist who emerged as a solo performer in 1994 and has significantly impacted music over the years. Harper's extensive repertoire includes memorable tracks such as "Welcome To The Cruel World," "Fight For Your Mind," "The Will To Live," and "Burn To Shine," among numerous other influential titles.
