Nestled between the estuary of Ria de Alvor and the gentle countryside outside Lagos, Casa Vale da Lama offers something rare: a truly regenerative stay rooted in a living, breathing organic farm. It’s a place where comfort, sustainability, and slow travel align — and where every detail serves the land and those who stay upon it.
Situated within Quinta Vale da Lama, a 43-hectare regenerative farm, the eco-resort is fully powered by solar energy, uses greywater treatment systems, and composts and recycles nearly everything. There are no air conditioners or TVs — instead, guests enjoy the natural rhythms of the Algarve, cooled by breezes, shaded by olive trees, and warmed by sun-powered floors.
The current nine rooms (expanding to 20) are built with solar-passive architecture, biodegradable toiletries, repurposed furnishings, and timeless simplicity. You’ll wake to birdsong, enjoy slow mornings in the gardens, and sleep to the scent of fig trees in the distance.
All meals are 100% vegetarian, with most ingredients grown on the farm just steps away. Breakfasts are organic and abundant, and dinner is served farm-to-fork at the on-site restaurant. Expect soups made from "ugly" veggies, bulk-sourced pantry goods, and zero-packaging philosophy — all in support of local ecosystems and fair food systems.
Guests can take part in seasonal farm activities, explore the Ria de Alvor wetlands, cycle to nearby beaches, or simply read by the saltwater pool, treated without chlorine and positioned for maximum sun exposure.
Casa is currently closed until late 2025 for a thoughtful expansion that will include:
• A new spa & wellness zone
• Enlarged restaurant & kitchen
• Two multifunction event rooms
• Outdoor activity facilities
• A larger pool experience
• +11 new guest rooms (for a total of 20)
But what won’t change is Casa’s mission: to offer nourishing, low-impact, soulful experiences that leave both guest and land restored.
