Step into the heart of the Douro Valley on a private day tour from Porto, a hands-on cooking experience at a historic wine estate, paired with exceptional wines, a long table lunch, and a truly unhurried pace.
A Private Culinary Journey Through the Douro
Hidden among terraced vineyards and centuries of family history, Quinta de Santa JĆŗlia is a place that has been lived in, not designed for tourism, and thatās exactly what makes it special.
Departing from Porto with your expert Cooltour Oporto guide, this private Douro Valley experience is designed for depth, not distance. One estate. One family. One table. No rushing between wineries, no shared groups, no compromises.
From Garden to Table: A Private Culinary Experience
Your experience begins with a private walk through the gardens of Quinta de Santa JĆŗlia, where your host introduces the history of the estate, the family legacy, and the connection between the land and its wines.
From there, youāre welcomed into the Quintaās traditional kitchen by the chef, with a welcome drink and a selection of regional appetizers.
Guided by both the chef and your host, youāll take part in a hands-on cooking session, preparing traditional Douro dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients. This is a fully interactive experience, where techniques, flavours, and stories are shared naturally, step by step.
Between moments in the kitchen, youāll have time to explore the estate, its gardens, vineyards, and architecture, before returning to complete the cooking and prepare for lunch.
A Long Lunch. The Right Wines.
When the cooking is done, you sit down and⦠take your time.
The meal you helped prepare is served at a beautifully set table, paired with wines from Quinta de Santa JĆŗlia. Douro DOC wines that reflect the terroir, a Tawny aged ten years, and a Vintage Port to finish.
Your lunch includes:
⢠Traditional starters and regional dishes
⢠A 3-course meal prepared during the session
⢠Douro DOC wine pairings
⢠Tawny 10-year and Vintage Port tastings
